I didn’t think life could get any worse when my husband died after I was born – but then his secret came out

Marianne didn’t think life could get much worse when her husband died just days after they welcomed their son Soren into the world.

The mum, 32, was happily married to her musician husband Liam, 25.

But her baby bubble was quickly burst when she walked into their bedroom on New Year’s Eve, Soren in hand, to find Liam had taken her own life.

She was so shocked, she was readmitted to the hospital and says she was unable to eat for days.

When she eventually returned home, the police handed over her husband’s phone and that’s what ended up turning her world upside down… again.

The devastating revelation

According to The Sun, Marianne was just going to take a “quick look” at his device, but ended up with information that revealed he had been having an affair throughout their marriage.

“I found phone calls to a person while I was in labor,” Marianne said.

It was like blow after blow and she fought the mixed emotions this information brought.

“It’s strange to be angry with someone who is no longer alive,” she admitted.

But at the end of the day, she says she’s glad she found out, as it gave her “some sort of closure.”

“I have a choice – I can sit in my house and rot or I can show my son what a wonderful life he must have there,” she said.

“I will always be ‘that woman'”

The new mom is now a single parent of an 18-month-old and documents her life on her Instagram, @marianna.againagain.

In a particularly poignant post, she wrote:

“To some people, I will always be ‘that woman’…

The woman who had the life-shattering tragedy of losing her husband days after the birth of her first child.

The woman who married an unfaithful man who created a scandal and then left, in the most definitive way.

The woman who found it.

The woman could not breathe as she tried to speak to emergency services.

The woman who – still today – sees it as if it were happening in real time.

The woman who was handed her cell phone only had to return it to the police because of what was found on it.

The woman who begged for space to grieve and process and to respect her boundaries only to be forced upon her with obnoxious intrusions and formalities.

The woman who had to install a security camera in her vehicle because she was followed and filmed.

The woman who was not told about the memorials.

The woman who had to sell both of her family’s vehicles because of what happened to them…

But I promise, I’m so much more than that.”
