The man who spoke out about his encounter and was met with hundreds of hateful comments has responded to the backlash.
Flynn Martin quickly became an internet target after sharing an experience a woman had on a date at a popular frozen yogurt establishment.
At first, he said the date was going well and there was chemistry between the two, but when they got to the dessert bar, he was stunned, she chose the “big cup” after he chose the small one.
“The big one is just wild. That’s just a gluttonous amount of frozen yogurt, he said. The brand later came out and said they only have one cup size.
He began to freak out that he would most likely have to pay for it and, in the clip, began to criticize her for the amount of yogurt and extras she was putting on the pay-per-weight item.
Flynn said he had just returned from Europe and didn’t have much cash to splash.
“I’m gone at this point, I’m sick and I don’t even want to be there,” he said.
He then proceeded to show how she was eating her plate, saying she was “smashing the wolf” and wondering “are we going to eat next?”. He then said that she “stole” his bowl, so he eventually offered it to her. However, he scoffed at her reaction to how he ate it.
The internet quickly flocked to Flynn’s video, with one viewer saying; “Good luck finding another date Yo-chi, you prick.”
Another said: “Don’t go to Yo-chi if you only have McFlurry money.” Your date sounds like a cool unit, though.â€
One said: “Dates usually cost hundreds, you should be grateful she even agreed to go to Yo-chi. I wouldn’t have.
However, Flynn recently appeared on Fox’s Fifi, Fev and Nick to talk about the internet reaction.
“It’s brutal, absolutely brutal. Definitely not what I expected or hoped for, but that’s how the internet goes, I guess, especially TikTok — it’s a wild place,” he said.
“I was just surprised by how much she had. Not in the sense that I was upset or anything, I was just really in shock.
“People are really upset that I was shaming him and saying all these things, but “that wasn’t the intention at all, I thought it was a really funny story, all my friends and family thought it was funny. I didn’t mean to upset anyone, but the internet takes things and runs with it
He said he hasn’t spoken to her since and there are people online pretending to be his date.
Flynn said he was the one yelling and maybe she should have been more respectful on that front.
But, he said he has learned his lesson and will now pay and add a tip.
